Horsetail Falls is located on the east face of El Capitan in Yosemite. There are two weeks at the end of February that the angle of the setting sun will light up the waterfall just before it sets and make it glow. There are only about 22 acres that feed this waterfall and there are certain conditions that must be met.
#1 You must have snow! So far this year there is none on the ground. Lets hope for the best.
#2 If it has snowed you will need sun to melt the snow to feed the waterfall.
#3 You cannot have any clouds in the valley at sunset or the glow will not happen.
If you plan to shoot Horsetail scout out your place where you are going to shoot ahead of time and then get there early (about 4pm) because there will be alot of other photographers. Good Luck and most of all have fun.
